Automated Security Alert has joined with Twilight Wish, an organization that helps to enrich the lives of senior citizens by supplying needs of air conditioners and mobility equipment, and even granting wishes. The organization was started in 2003 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania by Cass Forkin and aims to help senior citizens with limited financial resources and a history of making positive contributions to society. Since then, the organization has helped to fulfill the wishes of senior citizens in thirty-eight states. On average, the organization grants one wish every other day and can include anything from trips to hometowns to skydiving. Twilight Wish has received press coverage in USA Today, The Huffington Post, and People Magazine.

Pittsburgh-based Automated Security Alert has a mission of keeping senior citizens in their own homes as long as possible by providing push-button medical alarms and other equipment to keep senior citizens safe as they live independently. For them, Twilight Wish was a perfect fit with their own mission. Jason Seyler, Automated Security Alert’s Life Safety Director said, “We are very excited to work with Twilight Wish and enrich the lives of seniors, this is a direct extension of what we do on a daily basis with our technologies.”

In-Home Medical Technicians Set Automated Security Alert Apart

Many healthcare companies offer a variety of in-home medical equipment, and many of these companies expect their customers to install the potentially life-saving equipment on their own. The Pittsburgh-based company Automated Security Alert refuses to take the risk of having their medical equipment installed improperly. Jason Seyler, Automated Security Alert’s Director of Life Safety explained the company’s position on the issue by stating, “Many companies do not want to spend the money to send in a medical technician for the installation of these technologies, they rather try to help the family install them over the phone and so the consumer never gets properly trained nor embraces the technology.”

Automated Security Alert will not put the stress on their customers of hoping the technology is properly installed. Instead, they employ medical technicians who are trained to install the equipment and then teach the customer how to use the equipment face-to-face, so that the customer has a complete understanding of how to use the technology. Automated Security Alert medical technicians are friendly and family-oriented. Additionally, another aspect of customer service that Automated Security Alert refuses to compromise on is their phone service. All calls to the company are answered by a live person in a U.S.-based call center with 24-hour service. The company does not use an automated phone system.

Automated Security Alert, Inc., has provided freedom and security since 1988 to over 60,000 consumers through the use of technology and services that enable seniors, physically-challenged persons and recovering patients to maintain an independent lifestyle in their homes. ASA’s creative, dependable solutions include medical alert systems(personal emergency response systems); fall detection systems; telehealth and medication management systems, including electronic pill dispensers and monitored medication dispensers.

Automated Security Alert Reaching Out to Help Health Professionals

In an age where new medical technology is helping people to live longer and healthier lives, it can be overwhelming for an individual to try to decide what option is best for them. The Pittsburgh-based company Automated Security Alert has been in the process of educating the public on how their services can help seniors and physically disabled persons live independent lives with the assurance that they can summon emergency help when needed. The company has now furthered their mission to educate by providing a section on their website to educate not only patients about options, but health professionals. Automated Security Alert’s Director of Life Safety, Jason Seyler, commented, “This section speaks directly to healthcare professionals and how our services help them with care.”

The site provides information on solutions for individual patients living at home as well as information for those in independent living and nursing homes. When seniors are living in an environment where they can walk freely around a facility, Automated Security Alert offers products that can allow seniors to get help immediately in an emergency which can be critically important for those who are allowed to take walks outside unattended.

When Automated Security Alert was first founded in Munhall, PA their mission was to help keep people in their own homes and out of nursing homes for as long as possible. Now Automated Security Alert is furthering their mission by helping healthcare facilities to allow residents to have as much freedom as they possibly can while remaining safe in a structured environment. Now with the help of Bosch Security Systems, Automated Security Alert’s product line is expanding by offering the Bosch Nurse Call System. The technology allows residents to call for help by pushing a button on a wall unit or on a wrist unit that looks like a wrist watch. The button will signal the Nurse Call System Main Unit which can route the signal to a telephone or to a pager. What is perhaps the most intriguing feature is that the main unit can pinpoint where the signal was sent from, saving valuable time so that help can be sent to the resident immediately.

Additionally, the system can be upgraded to include a “wander sensor” that would allow the wrist device to send an emergency signal if the device were to pass beyond a set boundary. This feature can be ideal for residents who may be in the early stages of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Jason Seyler, Automated Security Alert’s Director of Life Safety said, “With our partnership with Bosch we are able to provide the best facilities solution on the market. Automated Security Alert’s unmatched service and Bosch’s manufacturing abilities gives facilities the edge when marketing to new consumers.”

Pittsburgh-based Automated Security Alert has a high standard of integrity, and the company does not wish to mislead people into buying healthcare products that are not suited to their individual needs. One product that many companies are currently offering are fall detectors, a small electronic device that will send an emergency signal if the device is tipped over and stays in that position after a brief period of time (usually about one minute). Individuals wear the device on their clothing and fall detectors can be an advantage over a medical alarm in the event that a person loses consciousness due to a fall, or if they have a medical condition that can cause them to pass out and fall as a result. Fall detectors offer an advantage over a medical alarm because if a person is unconscious they are unable to use a medical alarm to summon help.
Although Automated Security Alert offers a fall detector called the FallGaurd Pro, Jason Seyler, the company’s Director of Life Safety warns that the product is oversold by other firms. “Due to the false positives from fall detection technology it is best used in managed care facilities like LIFE programs, independent living communities, assisted living, and personal care homes. Many providers oversell this technology.”

Push button medical alarms are great for people who can use the technology to call for help when they need it, but push button alarms won’t be of any help to people who can’t use their hands to activate the alarm. Pittsburgh-based Automated Security Alert is now working with United Cerebral Palsy to offer a device to their clients called the “sip n puff” that allows the user to activate a medical alarm by blowing into a straw. This device is a creative way to fulfill an important need.

Jason Seyler, Automated Security Alert’s Director of Life Safety is glad that his company can be of service. He said of the new arrangement with United Cerebral Palsy, “There are many consumers that do not have the ability to press a button. This is why Automated Security Alert works with many manufacturers and prescribes the right solution for each individual.”

Although Automated Security Alert is devoted to giving physically disabled persons and senior citizens the freedom to remain in their own homes while enjoying the security of knowing that help is available 24 hours a day, the company’s services can also be an enormous weight off the shoulders of loved ones and live-in caretakers by providing monitored medication dispensers, monitored smoke detectors, and numerous other products that can save lives and send emergency help immediately.

Their disease is monitored daily from their home.”

Automated Security Alert offers different Health Buddy devices that cater to different needs, allowing individuals to choose the type of healthcare monitoring that is the best choice for them. Some of the different monitoring devices can record blood glucose levels, blood pressure, pulse, blood oxygen saturation, and weight. Besides being able to save money on frequent medical visits, the Health Buddy can save patients the time and trouble of having to leave their house for medical visits which can be a great advantage for patients who have mobility issues or are unable to drive.

Automated Security Alert, Inc., has provided freedom and security since 1988 to over 60,000 consumers through the use of technology and services that enable seniors, physically-challenged persons and recovering patients to maintain an independent lifestyle in their homes. ASA’s creative, dependable solutions include medical alert systems (“personal emergency response systems”); fall detection systems; and medication management systems, including electronic pill dispensers and monitored automated medication dispensers.

Automated Security Alert is doing amazing things with surprisingly simple technology. The Pittsburgh-based company is combing simple devices such as medical alarms, monitored medication dispensers, and Telehealth services to help patients with congestive heart failure and the results are astounding. One health plan alone that has embraced Automated Security Alert’s technology saved a total $632,458,419.00 over a period of three years by providing the medical technology to 48,000 patients with congestive heart failure (this figure is the savings after the costs of the system was deducted). Besides the financial benefits to the health plan, the patients got an even better benefit: they live longer and have less hospital visits.

Jason Seyler, Automated Security Alert’s Director of Life Safety is very enthusiastic about the results. Seyler said, “The Veterans Administration has embraced these technologies and are seeing great results. Private companies are finally realizing the benefits of these technologies and are deploying them. This will have a huge impact on the entire healthcare industry and will allow people to live longer and more independently.” Seyler is very optimistic about the numerous benefits that his company can offer to the future of healthcare in their ability to improve the quality of life, save lives, prolong lives, prevent or decrease some major medical episodes through early intervention, and keep healthcare costs down.

In a world where technology keeps making everything easier, Pittsburgh-based Automated Security Alert is offering some new products to make life easier for people with chronic health problems. One of the company’s newest offerings is the Dispense-A-Pill, a sophisticated but easy-to-use electronic pill dispenser. Although the company has different monitored medication dispensers to choose from, the Dispense-A-Pill is in a class by itself for its ability to manage not only scheduled pills, but as-needed medications, as well as eye drops, insulin injections, topical creams, liquids, and inhalers. The device features battery backup in the event of a power failure, childproof settings, and can be password protected by a caretaker. If the patient misses a dose of medication, it signals the caregiver to alert them of the situation.

Automated Security Alert is excited about the new product. “With Dispense-A-Pill we are able to dispense up to eight different medications per day without limiting the number of dispenses. This is great for people with Parkinson, AIDS, and other diseases that require many dispenses,” said Jason Seyler, who is Automated Security Alert’s Director of Life Safety. The Dispense-A-Pill is just one of the new products that Automated Security Alert has recently debuted.

Automated Security Alert, Inc., has provided freedom and security since 1988 to over 60,000 consumers through the use of technology and services that enable seniors, physically-challenged persons and recovering patients to maintain an independent lifestyle in their homes.
