Automated Security Alert is doing amazing things with surprisingly simple technology.  The Pittsburgh-based company is combing simple devices such as medical alarms, monitored medication dispensers, and Telehealth services to help patients with congestive heart failure and the results are astounding.  One health plan alone that has embraced Automated Security Alert’s technology saved a total $632,458,419.00 over a period of three years by providing the medical technology to 48,000 patients with congestive heart failure (this figure is the savings after the costs of the system was deducted).  Besides the financial benefits to the health plan, the patients got an even better benefit:  they live longer and have less hospital visits.
